The 1799 Draped Bust Dollar saw the highest mintage of the series for a single year. There were a total of 423,515 pieces struck at the early Philadelphia Mint.
This production utilized 11 different obverse and 17 different reverse dies, which resulted in 23 different varieties identified. Points of interest include some over dated pieces showing the final two digits “99” over “98”, and either 13 or 15 stars on the reverse above the eagle.
